These courses, proposed by the doctoral schools, allow students to acquire and develop the specific skills required for doctorate research activity. 

The URFIST (Regional Training Unit for Scientific and Technical Information) also offers training courses in information and scientific publishing (writing, data management and production, commercialization of research work, etc.). These courses are scheduled per semester and are free of charge for doctoral students and public higher education staff.

An offer is being prepared for the 2017-2018 academic year.

Cross-disciplinary training courses are aimed at all doctoral students no matter the discipline, in order to acquire and develop skills transferable to a variety of professional fields. They are complementary to courses developed specifically within research activities. These cross-disciplinary courses add to the disciplinary expertise of doctoral students and provide:

• an interdisciplinary approach to research 
• knowledge of the socio-economic world and its environment
• support with employability and professional integration, regardless of the research project
• advice for academic and/or socio-economic career issues.

The cross-disciplinary training courses are evaluated each year in order to meet with the needs of the doctoral students. An ad hoc commitee is organized every spring to review the proposed courses and to develop a new training offer.

Training topics

Online, workshop or classroom courses are offered around six main themes:

• Reinforcing common scientific culture
• Understanding the environment/Mastering the language
• Perfecting techniques and useful research tools 
• Training in learning
• Developing your skills / Knowledge of the socio-economic environment
• Preparing for your future career
• Transversal training courses

Completing a doctorate constitutes a professional experience during which the young researcher develops many skills. Whatever career is envisaged, a training plan must be constructed, to complement and acquire cross-disciplinary skills, transferable to research and other fields of activity.
